Earth is the only natural celestial body known to host life, and its population is rapidly increasing. This increase makes the importance of agriculture even more apparent. Agriculture is a dynamic and indispensable sector for all countries, regardless of their level of development. The path to development is only through production. However, production alone is not enough; many products produced are wasted before reaching the consumer. On our 5 billion-year-old planet, human existence dates back only 200 thousand years.
The most invasive and skillful race that has ever dominated the world with its social skills is undoubtedly the human race. After the 1st and 2nd World Wars, which were started because of the desire to dominate and rule, in the early 1960s there were only 3 billion people living in the world. Having escaped tension and stress a little, the human race is faced with a population explosion and is expected to reach a crazy number exceeding 12 billion.
According to this data, in order to meet the increasing food demand in 2050, we will need to increase our current production by approximately two-fold. We need to make serious plans and get into a panic about this issue now. While developed countries are struggling with over-nutrition problems, namely obesity, the two biggest threats facing the human population, which has doubled in just 50 years and is expected to quadruple in the very near future, are energy and food supply problems. So, can we solve the food problem by just producing food?
People access food in three stages:
Phase one: Food production.
Second phase: Storage of the produced food.
Third phase: Producing and storing food in an environmentally compatible and efficient manner.
Food production has become easier thanks to the knowledge and developing technologies. However, storing the food produced well is still a big problem. The oldest and still the healthiest way to store food, refrigeration or freezing, is not applied well enough in many countries. The best practices of cold storage, especially developed in countries that produce and consume a lot of food, are unfortunately unknown in 80% of food producing countries. In other words, 80% of the food produced in the world cannot be stored under the best conditions. Even the most developed countries do not know all the best storage methods for food.
This is a big problem because producers of food that cannot be stored properly cannot earn enough money from this food and therefore cannot develop their businesses. This vicious circle only serves to pollute our planet for no reason without understanding why and how it happens. With over 25 years of experience in the sector, TünelGroup aims to improve the processes from production to consumption. In this process, it aims to prevent food losses and raise awareness by offering the most perfect cooling solutions.
If we want global peace to continue, we must use our energy correctly and solve the food problem immediately. We must secure our future now by using food and energy correctly. The greatest danger that awaits the world is believing that others will save the world.
